Aminya Farms to Aminya Laine

It started with two bales of wool in 2015. After growing up around merino wool on our property Aminya Farms at the foothills of the Grampians I had always wondered about what we could do with our wool. Instead of just packing it into bales and sending it away I wanted to see what we could create with
our wool from our farm and so the journey began.

I love merino wool, it’s properties and natural way it looks after us have always been something I’m passionate about. As a teacher and since becoming a mum I’ve also wanted to share this love of merino wool with others. Education of where our wool comes from has become a core focus for me and lead to me writing our first children’s book ‘Tildie and Tom’s Woolly Adventure’ which details Tildie and Tom visiting their Pa at Aminya Farms and learning about the wool cycle from farm to finished jumper. By creating this book I hope that kids and parents will reconnect with the natural fibre of wool and promote thinking about sustainability in fashion and ensuring we are conscious of exactly what our clothes are made of and where they have come from.

My dream is for kids to be snuggled up under an Aminya Laine blanket or wearing an Aminya Laine jumper whilst reading the book and making the connection that the wool they are wearing has come from our farm. Connecting kids and families back to the natural, sustainable, gorgeous raw fibre of wool.
